To give you a start in planning your weekend, you will find the schedule and list of planned rides in the files below.
You can make the weekend as action packed or as relaxed as you want.Take a long ride or just walk the Glen, do what fits your style.

Friday: arrive after 2 pm, settle in, register,  take a ride to the Fire Tower or a hike to the Watkins Glen Gorge from camp, then catch up with old and new friends at the catered camp social

Saturday and Sunday: pick a bike ride that is just right for you from 15 to 109 miles.  Tour through historic villages, enjoy breathtaking views of lakes, waterfalls, gorges, and vineyards. Visit New York wineries along the way that are in perhaps the most diverse wine-growing region in the world. We offer free delivery from select group of wineries.  As an alternative to cycling, take a hike from camp to Watkins Glen gorge (map provided).

Accommodations: Bring your sleeping bag and bunk in a cabin ($5/night fee) or pitch your tent on the spacious lawns for no additional charge. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, and large dining hall.

Fee includes: catered Friday night social, tenting Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday and Sunday catered breakfast, Saturday catered dinner, Saturday night entertainment, maps, sag wagon, repair service (excluding parts), and parking.  Fee is 100% refundable prior to May 28th.

Friday June 7

 

2 Arrive after 2 and settle in
3-10 Registration - cue sheets & maps provided for all rides
4:30 Hike the Glen Option--Leader Nancy Botting--see map in packet--Meet at Dining Hall (DH)

5 18 mile loop ride to/from Sugar Hill Firetower - hills, some dirt, great view! Meet at DH. Map in packet.

7 mile loop overview of the WG International Raceway. Meet at DH. Map in packet.
6:30-8 Catered Welcome Reception - food

9 Announcements, questions, rules of the road, road etiquette

Saturday June 8

 

6:30-8 Catered breakfast
7 on Rides leave Hidden Valley Group Camp. Maps in packet.
7 on Self-guided hike to the Watkins Glen gorge from camp (map provided)
9 on Remote start from Ovid for shorter, flatter rides

Park behind S Seneca Central School in Ovid-see maps
4-8 Licensed massage therapist available $1/ minute (sign up in advance)
5:30-7 Catered dinner including vegetarian option
7-7:45 Hula Hoop Contest

7:45 Raffles - must be present to win! Raffle tickets in Registration Packet

7 on Self-guided hike to the Watkins Glen Gorge from camp--see map

8 Short 7 mile overview ride of WG International Speedway for those needing a short ride today.
10 Remote start - Keuka Lake rides Park at Champlin Beach, Hammondsport--see map

10 Remote start - Catherine Valley Trail hard packed dirt ride 7 Mile loop, or 24 mile experience.

Directions to Watkins Glen State Park Hidden Valley Group Campground
  

The Watkins Glen State Park Hidden Valley Group campground is located 3 miles west of Watkins Glen, NY at the end of NY 329.   

From the north… drive south through the village on NY 14 and turn right at the traffic light just past the Watkins Glen State Park (lower park) entrance. Follow NY 329 three miles to the entrance of the park and the end of NY 329. Turn right into the Hidden Valley camp ground.  

From the south… follow route 14 north to the first light past Burger King and turn left on NY 329. Follow NY 329 three miles to the entrance of the park and the end of NY 329. Turn right into the Hidden Valley camp ground.
