Meeting Place - Berkshire
From Binghamton, west on NY17C to exit #63. (to Route NY96). Left at bottom of ramp, right at T with 434W, right at light to cross bridge into Owego. Continue following NY96 and NY38 through town. Continue straight on NY38 when NY96 turns left. Proceed through Newark Valley to Berkshire. Park at closed filling station (as of 2005) at the corner of Main (NY38) and Depot.
To Destination
- From parking Right on NY38
- At Light in Richford, continue Straight on NY38
- Entering Dryden. First light is intersection NY38 and NY392. See directions below to restaurant of choice.
Return to Start
- Leave Dryden on NY38 south.
- Left at Weber
Bike trail starts here, see note below.
- On Weber to Right at T on East Lake Road
- Continue Straight on East Lake Road
West Lake Road forks off to the Right and provides an alternate route back to NY38
- East Lake Road becomes Willow Crossing Road.
- Right at T on Daisey Hollow
- Left at T with NY38
- Continue on NY38 to Left into parking at start.
Places to Eat -
- In Dryden - Dryden Hotel, a block or two west of junction of NY38 and NY392 on NY13 (22 East Main Street).
- In Dryden - A1 Pizzeria and Family Restaurant, North Street. Continue on NY38 to junction NY13, and then straight on NY13. Restaurant is on the left in about 0.2 miles. Adds another mile to overall distance.
Notes -
- There is a gravel bike trail which follows the route of an abandoned railroad. It goes through town, and can be picked up at NY38 and Weber and followed either direction. Southbound it continues to Daisey Hollow road. At a T with Daisey Hollow, turn Right and rejoin regular route at T with NY38. To return to NY38 before the end of the trail, turn right when trail crosses West Lake Road.
