Meeting Place - Apalachin Fishing Access Lot
From Binghamton, NY17 West to Exit #66. Right at top of the ramp, then left to fishing access lot.
Description
- Left at parking lot exit onto bridge
For safety, walk bicycle from car and across road before mounting.
- At light Left on NY17C
- Right at Tioga CR14 then Right into Visions parking lot.
Recommended turning point. See note below for continuation to Hickories Park or Owego.
Return to Start
- From Visions lot, Left on CR14
- Stop at NY17C
- Left on NY17C
- Right at Light onto bridge to Apalachin
- Right to parking lot.
For safety, walk down to parking.
Notes -
- While NY17C has high speed traffic, it also has good wide shoulders. So it is a good place for beginners to get used to high speed traffic.
- Alternate extension - continue on NY17C West to first light then either Left to Hickories Park OR Straight to various fast food places in Owego. CAUTION - be very careful on return as at this light you will be continuing straight east on NY17C while many cars will be making a right on the ramp to access NY17. This is a dangerous spot, not recommended for beginners. This extension adds about 1 mile.
